The importance of Pap Smears

The Pap test, also known as a Pap Smear, checks for changes in the cells of your cervix. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb) that opens in to the vagina (birth canal). The Pap test can identify if you have infections, abnormal (unhealthy) cervical cells, or cervical cancer.

This important exam and cancer screening test should be performed on an annual basis as recommended via the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG).
